BWI 2019 AGM information

It’s that time of year again! Our AGM will be held on Wednesday February 13 at the Bunch of Grapes hotel from 7pm. The outgoing committee will be there early to gather feedback and ideas, and to answer questions from those who might be interested in building Ballarat Writers into something bigger and better.

To speed up the proceedings, we are making our position reports available prior to the meeting. This will save us the need to have our usual read through on the night.

February Words Out Loud

Words Out Loud is sharing its heart in February, no strings attached, with the non-compulsory theme of “heart strings”. Make of that theme what you will, or ignore it altogether.

This is a great opportunity to road test new material, celebrate a success or share some inspiration, or simply enjoy a diverse range of spoken word — poetry, prose or storytelling; read or recited; your own work or someone else’s. Continue reading

January blog: Q&A on self-publishing

For the Ballarat Writers October members’ night on October 24, 2018, we were lucky enough to have local author (and BWI celebrity) Heather Roche (HR) interview local booksellers Dianne Woodhouse from Ballarat Books (DW), and Tracey Willersdorf from Collins Booksellers on Lydiard (TW).

The topic of the night was how to approach booksellers with your finished, self-published book, which means books all printed and ready to be sold.
