You must be a Ballarat Writers member to enter.

Entries will not be accepted if they exceed the the word limit – even if by a word, and must comply with all the stated parameters.

All entries are to be submitted to competitions@ballaratwriters.com by Friday, 20th  May. Your email must include author’s name, story title and word count.

Voting will open the next day on the flash fiction blog.

Come along to our Members’ Night on Wednesday, 25 May, 7pm at the Bunch of Grapes Hotel to hear the winner announced. (Results will also be posted the day after.)

The first members’ night at our new venue, the Bunch of Grapes Hotel (at 401 Pleasant St South), was a darn fine evening.

About 25 attended and almost half came early for a meal (we note with no little excitement that Wednesday is “parma night” – $20, a choice of five parmas, all as big as your head). There were several new faces, who hopefully will return to sign up at the special members’ night in May. Three people read in the open mic event.

The venue is excellent: a dedicated, spacious room (with its own toilets!), friendly and efficient staff, quite reasonable prices and generous serves. Ease of access and plenty of parking space were also appreciated.

The next members’ night is on 25 May at 7pm, or enjoy a meal beforehand – the kitchen opens at 5.30pm.

Wednesday 25 May will be the next members’ night at the new venue, the Bunch of Grapes Hotel, at 401 Pleasant St South. The gettogether starts at at 7pm, or enjoy dinner beforehand – the kitchen is open from 5.30pm. Hint: the specials won’t only be on the menu for this one!

Trivia Night in July!

Trivia 2016Get your teams together for the Ballarat Writers’ trivia night! Teams of 6-8 are invited to test their general knowledge and be in the running for prizes valued at more than $1000! $10 a person, BYO picnic supper, drinks at bar prices. Teams are encouraged to book, but will be accepted on the night.
